I've been to a lot of conferences, and it's often difficult to go home with a central theme or takeaway that survives the parties and networking. That's not the case this year at HubSpot's Inbound 2013. The message is so palpable, it sticks to you like pine sap.
The message presented itself first in Seth Godin's inspiring keynote, "We're All Inbound Now: The Epic Shift in Posture," followed the next day by Arianna Huffington's humorous but penetrating talk on "Fearless Leadership" and many insights from a roster of very smart speakers. What's the resounding message?
Not only do I believe that these takeaways have merit and are worth considering, I think it's essential to take action now on these important shifts in the way we live and work. It will be a personal decision by individuals and companies, but I strongly believe we will all be measuring "success" by new metrics very soon. Summarizing Dharmesh Shaw in his insider talk on HubSpot's Culture, we're not talking about a work-life balance, we're talking about a fusion of work, life, relationships and business into a common thread without the barriers and sacrifices that now limit us.
I will be discussing these important calls-to-action in discussions online and offline in the upcoming months, because I believe they will enrich my life and yours.
