Fifteen years ago in 1997, November 15th was deemed “America Recycles Day,” a nation-wide program created by Keep America Beautiful to celebrate, educate and promote recycling. Each year on or around this day, millions of people attend events across the country to learn more about recycling and its benefits and become aware of local programs and ways they can personally contribute.

More than four years ago, Kuno Creative increased our own business recycling efforts with in-office recycling of paper, kitchen items, lunch waste, used ink cartridges and boxes and packaging. Every work station has a mini-recycling bin for ease and convenience, making employee recycling a second-natured action. Noticing we had no centralized recycling program in our business complex, Kuno Creative spear-headed a project of our own: working closely in getting a recycling bin installed in our parking lot, there is now one available to our entire business complex to utilize in hopes of increasing recycling efforts across the community.

Unsure of the benefits of recycling in your business place or at home? America Recycles Day offers us these compelling reasons...

3 Reasons to Start Recycling:

  1. Recycling is the easiest thing we all can do 365 days a year to save energy, conserve natural resources and create green jobs.
  2. Recycling is a multibillion dollar industry that employs millions of Americans and helps advance our clean energy economy.
  3. Our national recycling rate of 34 percent annually saves the energy equivalent of nearly 229 million barrels of crude oil or nearly 20 days of all U.S. oil imports. It also avoids greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing more than 36 million cars from the road each year.

For anyone looking to get more involved, there is a "Take the Pledge" page for both individuals or businesses that want to publicly commit to increase their recycling efforts. Kuno Creative is proud to have taken this business pledge, and we are excited and dedicated to continuing our business recycling program. There is also a "Join an Event" page to find events in your area if you are looking to make a personal connection and learn more about the local programs. Happy recycling!
