If you're reading this, chances are you're either writing a marketing blog, or you're planning to start one. In either case, you might be thinking about the advantages of blogging for marketing. So, I'm here to assist.

According to Semrush, out of 1.7 billion websites, there are more than 500 million blogs. Of course, not all of these blogs are about digital marketing,  but with so much competition, just getting your blog seen is a challenge. It's also harder than ever to keep your blog on the reader's radar.

Let's look at some marketing blog suggestions that will help your blog stand out and establish your own distinct style that will keep your readers coming back for more.

7 Marketing Blog Tips to Improve Your Blog

  1. Present Quality Content
  2. Be Organized
  3. Be Visually Attractive
  4. Articulate
  5. Readability or “Voice”
  6. Regularly Post New Content
  7. Encourage People To Subscribe

1. Present Quality Content

To attract readers and entice them to return, first and foremost, you must present quality, interesting content. You can do this by always making sure of these things:

  1. Your content should always be original. The best way to be original is to be yourself when you’re writing. Think about how you’d say something in your blog to someone who was standing in the room with you.
  2. You should also vary your presentation. This will help prevent you from using the same template every single time. Throw in images, gifs or graphics every once in a while. Or use a different blog format as much as possible (like lists or a video within your blog). This will help keep things fresh.
  3. Make sure you have an audience to target. One of the benefits of blogging for marketing is that you can point your content directly at the people you hope to engage. So, provide them with useful, interesting information that has an obvious connection to your business or product.

2. Be Organized

What’s the best way to organize your blog? By following these steps:

  1. Individually and collectively, organize your blog content.
  2. Blog postings should be easily visible on the page and accessible with a single click.
  3. Vary your material, but stick to a standard headline and content presentation pattern. This will give your blog a more cohesive appearance.
  4. To make it easier for your users to identify and access similar information, create a taxonomy, or logical list of categories and tags. (Many CMS platforms will create this for you, or make it easy to develop.)
  5. Use an editorial calendar to keep track of your posts.

When writing an individual blog post, keep your information organized with header tags. Find ways to make your content skimmable (consider bold or italicized text). Make the experience easier for your readers (and crawlers!)

3. Be Visually Attractive

Having relevant content in your blog is important to pique your readers’ interest, but if it is not visually enticing, you may lose those readers in the first paragraph. Keep their attention by doing the following:

    1. Make your blog easy on the eyes. Starting with easy-to-read font sizes and color contrasts. Online marketing blogs don't have to be boring!
    2. Use short paragraphs. This creates more white space and is visually appealing, making content more accessible to readers.
    3. Make your posts skimmable by underlining or highlighting key text, using bullet points or numbered lists, and adding illustrations or images.

All these things can help break up content grayness and improve readability. They not only provide visual interest but can make your posts easier to read and help attract readers. And don’t be afraid to check out other blogs for inspiration.

4. Articulate

Having a strong copy editor on your staff helps a lot. Why? To ensure you’re using proper grammar, sentence structure, spelling and punctuation in your blog posts.

If you’re writing your own blog content, be sure to take advantage of the different tools and marketing software available to you. Use the spell checker and proofread blogs before you post them. A tool like Grammarly is also helpful to use. It’s a free, online writing assistant that helps proofread your work as you write.

Put your best foot forward with every post!

5. Readability or “Voice”

The "voice" with which you write determines the individuality of your site, shaping the reader's perception of your business.

Select a tone that complements your inbound marketing approach. Consider the image you want to project for your organization as well as your target demographic.

Your tone can be lighthearted, sarcastic, instructive, empathetic, practical, and so on, depending on the image you want to project.

Blogging allows you to make a more casual connection with potential customers. Use your voice to connect with readers on a more personal level, but keep in mind that your tone will influence how people see your organization.

6. Regularly Post New Content

Add new content to your website regularly. Readers tend to return to a blog if there is always new stuff to see. Be consistent, even if you update once a week. Post your blogs on the same day, at the same time, so that your audience begins to anticipate your weekly posts.

If you're posting more than once a week, make sure to space out your pieces every other day to keep readers interested rather than inundated.

7. Encourage People To Subscribe

Always urge your readers to subscribe. Simply displaying an RSS feed subscription button or an email on your blog page can encourage readers to sign up.

Include a brief explanation of your blog's overall topic as well as how often you write. This may compel your audience to subscribe to your blog or a newsletter.

You're much more likely to get repeat visitors to your site if you convert readers to subscribers, which can lead to loyal followers, qualified leads and sales opportunities.
